Red Cross Style Guide

Red Cross Style Guide

The Iona Group created a new design style for the local Red Cross chapter. We created prototypes of ads and branding that would serve as templates for their design team to build off. My part in this project was to put all of the information into a style guide that would be used as reference. It had to be designed to the styles already set and have all the information laid out in a useful way.

Youth Mental Health Booklet

Youth Mental Health Booklet

This was created for the Mental Health Association of the Illinois Valley. It is a booklet to be handed out to teens to make them aware of resources available for depression. It was created with a dark feel in order to make it relate to the way that teens might be feeling when they would need this kind of material.

Caterpillar Pocket Mining Book

Caterpillar Pocket Mining Book

As a project for the Iona Group, I was in charge of the layout for a small pocket guide for mining equipment. The design had already been set by the client, so my responsibilities were to carry out that design throughout the book and to ensure consistency of type and image placement. There are still some placeholders in this draft as the project was not finished during my employment.

No Sweat Style Magazine

No Sweat Style Magazine

No Sweat is a fair trade company who was looking to produce a style magazine about the issues surrounding fair trade and sweatshops. The spreads here are for the cover, table of contents, and two opening spreads for articles. Navigation is shown by the thin colored rules around each spread.

America Pop-Up Book

America Pop-Up Book

The America Pop-Up Book is a travel guide that plays off negative stereotypes of Americans. This spread was for New York City and the stereotype is that Americans are always rushed and rude. The skyline is created using text that is crammed together and going in all different directions. It contains facts about NYC that emphasize the number of people and anonymity of the city.

Wildlife Prairie Park Calendar

Wildlife Prairie Park Calendar

These designs are from a calendar created for Wildlife Prairie State Park. They experiment with not using a typical calendar layout and combining the dates with the imagery. It uses an illustrative style and blocks of color for a bright and bold look. Only three months were created to display the style the whole year would be.

Celebration of Numbers in Movies

Celebration of Numbers in Movies

This is a collection created for a film festival for movies with numbers in the titles. The movies are a travel theme that tie into the numbers with passports and currencies. Each night of the festival played movies that took place in the chosen city. A postcard for each night, based on the old western postcards of the US, gave information about the movies.
